The best Knutsford wedding venues for a live band
Six of our favourite venues in and around Knutsford for a wedding with live music, from a lakeside ballroom to estate barns, and what to ask before you book.
Knutsford has some of the best wedding venues in Cheshire within a few miles of the town centre. There are lakeside hotels, country manors and barns on working farms and old estates. When a live band is part of the plan, though, the room you choose makes a real difference to the night.
Where the band can set up, how the room changes between dinner and dancing, whether there is a noise limit and what time the music must stop all shape your evening. We are a 9-piece wedding band in Knutsford with a live horn section, playing Soul, Funk, R&B, Motown and Pop. These are six venues near town that we rate for a wedding with live music, and why each one works.
1Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere
Mere · Just north of KnutsfordThe lakeside resort many locals still call The Mere Golf Resort reopened in July 2026 as Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere. Its Grand Ballroom holds up to 1,000 guests, ceremonies can take up to 750, and couples can choose the hotel catering or a dry hire wedding with their own suppliers. Guests stay on site with views over the lake or the golf course.
Few venues near Knutsford can host a wedding this size. For 200 guests or more we bring our larger PA, so the horns and vocals reach the back of the ballroom as clearly as the front.
2Colshaw Hall
Over Peover · South of KnutsfordA Grade II listed manor house on a 300-acre private estate down Stocks Lane, booked for one wedding at a time. Vows are said in the stables ceremony room, with its oak beams and limestone floors, drinks move out to the walled gardens and pavilion bar, and the Peel Suite hosts dinner and the party. The estate sleeps up to 44 across the hall, cottages and lodges.
The Peel Suite turns from dinner to dancefloor, so the band is ready to go as soon as the tables are cleared. With the ceremony in the stables, our acoustic singer and guitarist can play your vows while the main room is set.
3Stock Farm Barn
Ashley · Tatton EstateAn exclusive-use barn on the Tatton Estate in Ashley, between Knutsford and Altrincham, also listed as Stock Farm Barn by Tatton Weddings. The licensed barn has a rustic bar and seats up to 200 for dinner, with room for more in the evening. There is a private garden for outdoor vows, a firepit for after dark and farmhouse accommodation on site.
We played a wedding here in September 2023. It is a big, open room with space for all nine of us and a proper dancefloor, and the firepit gives guests somewhere to gather between sets.
4The Oak Tree of Peover
Lower Peover · Near KnutsfordA purpose-built oak-framed barn set in 30 acres at Lower Peover. Ceremonies can be held in the Ladybird Room, looking out over the grounds, or the larger Acorn Room, which has floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights. The Acorn Bar has a real log fire, evening numbers go up to 180, and a coordinator is on hand throughout the planning.
Two licensed rooms means the ceremony and the party never have to share a space. By the time the speeches finish, the band can be set up and ready in the Acorn Room.
5Merrydale Manor
Over Peover · Country estateA tree-lined drive through parkland leads to this manor house near Knutsford, with landscaped gardens and a lake for ceremonies outdoors. Merrydale is only ever booked exclusively, its chandelier-lit suite and bar take up to 220 guests in the evening, and 19 bedrooms mean your nearest and dearest can stay the night.
With the whole estate to yourselves, the evening runs to your plan rather than another party. The high ceilings in the main suite give the horns room to sound full without pushing the volume.
6Owen House Wedding Barn
Mobberley · East of KnutsfordA working farm in Mobberley whose barn was converted for weddings in 2013. It has its own ceremony room for up to 150, seats 190 in the barn for dinner, and has orchard paddocks and a garden pagoda. There are playful extras too, like the Shooting Gallery with its 40ft wall of fairy lights, and up to 36 guests can sleep on site.
Owen House is built for a good time, and so are we. The barn holds the sound well, and the outdoor patio is a great spot for roaming brass while the welcome drinks go round.

What to ask your venue before booking a band
Before you sign with a venue, it is worth asking your coordinator a few questions about live music:
- Is there a sound limiter or a noise curfew? Some rooms have a limiter that cuts the power if the volume goes over a set level, and some ask for doors and windows to stay shut late on. Our guide to sound limiters at Cheshire wedding venues explains what to check.
- Where does the band go?The ideal is a flat, covered space of about 6m x 3m with two 13 amp sockets on separate circuits. We can work in less room than that, so ask us if space is tight.
- Do we eat in the same room as the party? If you do, we set up after the speeches. That takes around an hour, plus a few minutes for the band to change.
- What time must the music end? With a finish time agreed, we can plan the sets so the biggest songs land at the end of the night.
- How far is it from the car park to the stage?Hotels are usually straightforward, but at barns and estates the kit can have a long way to travel, so check early.
Live music through the dayMany couples spread the music across the day: an acoustic singer and guitarist for the ceremony, roaming brass in the gardens with the drinks, gentle music over dinner, then the full band and our DJ booth to take you to the end. See our wedding packages.
