SHROPSHIRE FUNCTION BAND
A nine-piece live band with horns, ready to turn a Shropshire celebration into a proper night out.
We play big birthdays, anniversaries, summer parties, charity balls, Christmas parties and golf, cricket and rugby club dinners across the county: in Shrewsbury and Telford, Ludlow and Church Stretton, Oswestry, Whitchurch, Market Drayton and Bridgnorth, and out at farms, barns and country estates. Our song list spans Soul, Funk, R&B, Motown and Pop, with old classics and new hits for every age.
Plenty of Shropshire venues are rural, so we arrive self-contained, with our own PA and stage lights set up to suit the space. We’re winners at the Manchester and North West England Prestige Awards, rated 5.0 on Google, and we play everything live, with no backing tracks.
You deal with the band, not an agency, and get one price with travel included. Add roaming brass in Shropshire to welcome guests, an acoustic singer and guitarist for the drinks, or our manned DJ booth to finish, all in our event packages. Booking for work? See our corporate event band page.
Fully Insured
Shropshire’s hotels, golf clubs and estate venues usually need to see insurance and safety records. We carry £10 million public liability insurance, all our kit is PAT tested, and the certificates go to your venue before the party.
Check your dateNo DJ Needed
Our playlist plays while we set up, in the interval and once we finish, so the atmosphere never dips. To keep going later, there’s our manned DJ booth.
See the DJ booth optionPA and Lighting Included
We arrive with our own sound system and stage lighting, sized for the room, whether that’s a converted barn near Ludlow, a hotel in Shrewsbury or a marquee on a farm. You won’t need to hire any kit.

Across Shropshire, live function bands generally start at about:
The full Brass Monkees nine-piece is from £2,000 plus travel. Booking us directly means there’s no agency fee, which is typically around 20%, added to the price.
The quote is based on your date, your venue and the amount of live music you need.
- Nine musicians on site from 6pm for set-up and soundcheck
- Two hours of live music, split however suits the evening
- Our playlist through the PA before and after the band, and in the break
- Our own PA system and stage lighting
- £10 million public liability insurance and PAT-tested gear
Our manned DJ booth can be added through the event packages.
We do. Our invoices come from Entertainment Monkey Ltd and can be made out to a club, a company or a charity. To book, sign the online form and pay a 15% deposit. You’ll get the final invoice roughly two weeks ahead, due seven days before the event.
For staff parties and company events, visit our corporate event band page.
A mix of Soul, Funk, R&B, Motown and Pop, taking in classics from the 1950s right up to recent hits, all with live horns. The full song list is online.
Nine of us: two lead singers, a rhythm section of drums, bass, guitar and keys, and trumpet, trombone and saxophone.
You can. If we’d happily add it to our set, we’ll learn it for nothing; if not, there’s a fee to arrange and rehearse it. Alternatively, we’ll play the original recording through our PA.
Yes, as long as there’s a flat, covered area of around 6m × 3m and two 13 amp sockets on separate circuits. In barns and marquees, check the power with your venue or hire company, as a generator needs to be suitable for a band’s equipment.
We bring a 3kW PA as standard and can supply a 5kW PA for big spaces at extra cost.
At about 6pm. If we have our own room we start setting up straight away; if we’re in the room where you’re eating, we set up after the meal.
We’ll fit your plans, but we’d say 8:30–9pm at the earliest, once everyone’s eaten and in the mood to dance.
At least one hour for set-up and soundcheck, with a short time afterwards to change.
All of them, including Shrewsbury, Telford, Wellington, Newport, Ludlow, Church Stretton, Much Wenlock, Bridgnorth, Oswestry, Whitchurch, Wem and Market Drayton. Travel is included in your price.
We also play functions in Cheshire, Liverpool, Manchester, North Wales and Staffordshire.
We can usually still play. A limit of roughly 100 decibels, with the sensor at least 7 metres from the stage, lets the whole band play normally. For lower settings, in-ear monitors and an electronic drum kit generally work.
Tell us before you book, and see our sound limiter guide.

Function band reviews
A 25th anniversary, a New Year’s Eve party and a surprise 70th: here’s what the people who booked us had to say afterwards.
Brass Monkee's recently performed at our 25th anniversary party. They were absolutely sensational! I cannot recommend them enough. In the run up to the event they were super helpful, organised and made the whole process incredibly easy.
The quality of the music was amazing, I've never seen so many people on their feet so quickly and people were up dancing all night. Every one of our guests commented on how good they were and many said it's the best band they've seen at an event.
Thanks for making a special event even more special.
Seriously, if you are thinking of booking these guys for your event - stop thinking about it and just do it!
I booked Brass Monkees for our New Years Eve event and I was Absolutely made up with their performance. From beginning to end they were professional and easy to deal with.
Their performance was phenomenal and we had so many people calling, emailing and telling us how fantastic they were and how they had made New Year’s Eve one to remember! I could not recommend them enough.
Absolute pleasure to work with- thank you Brass Monkees and keep on doing what you do!
I saw the Brass Monkees about 4/5 years ago and they were good then, and my wife booked them for a surprise birthday party for my 70th last week and they were great. She booked the full 9 piece band and the sax, trombone and trumpet made it very professional.
Everyone commented on how good the band were, and the music they played kept lots of people on the dance floor. It made it a night to remember 👍

Barns to ballrooms
On stage there are nine of us: two lead singers, drums, bass, guitar, keys, trumpet, trombone and sax. Our PA and lighting come with us, with a 3kW system for most rooms and a 5kW system for large barns, halls and marquees. We need about 6m by 3m of flat, covered space and two separate 13 amp sockets, and we’ll talk power through with you for rural venues.
Add our roaming brass band for arrivals, an acoustic singer and guitarist for drinks and food, or the manned DJ booth to finish. The options are on our packages page, and our sound limiter guide helps if your venue has one.
MUSIC THAT KEEPS EVERYONE DANCING
Classics and new hits
Our set mixes Soul, Funk, R&B, Motown and Pop, so the older guests get the classics and the younger ones get the songs they know from the radio. We watch the room and change direction when we need to.
"Everyone commented on how good the band were, and the music they played kept lots of people on the dance floor." Fred Brinksman
